Crop wild relatives get the nod

November 23, 2011

The UNEP GEF Crop Wild Relatives global project has been named among the 20 best projects selected to showcase 20 historical years of GEF environmental financing. One of the pleasures of having been involved in this project as a coordinator was the opportunity to take the national coordinators of the countries involved to Ireland for a workshop and visits to meet various colleagues working on CWR in the country. Which reminds me, the National Biodiversity Data Centre has recently launched a crop wild relatives website and database, which provides information on the conservation status, habitat, distribution and use of 102 important crop wild relatives growing in Ireland.
