Farmland habitats supporting wildlife diversity in Ireland

January 5, 2011

Farmland habitats are of crucial importance to  native Irish wildlife. Very important wildlife habitats may be designated as Natural Heritage Areas (NHAs), Special Areas of Conservation (SACs) or Special Protection Areas (SPAs). This book produced by the Irish Heritage Council & TEAGASC describes the types of habitats that may be found on Irish farmland, their usefulness for wildlife, and the farmer’s role in maintaining and enhancing wildlife.
