In defence of weeds

February 18, 2010 is a website dedicated to people in Ireland interested in wildlife, biodiversity and habitats. Founded in 2005 it is an interactive tool for the collection of Nature’s Calendar or phenology observations. It grew from a simple flash based map (which is still available) to using Google maps to collect data from the public. The site currently runs ‘public’ biodiversity surveys on a wide variety of topics of interest to the wildlife community from species specific to community/habitats. One survey is devoted to wildflowers including a number of Ireland’s important crop wild relatives. is linked to Zoe Devlin’s excellent Wildflowers of Ireland website. Well worth checking out.
