Don’t forget your fruits and veg

February 9, 2010

Following on from the earlier post on European Landraces, Chris Stocks has written a lovely book, Forgotten Fruits, which looks at the history of previously well-known varieties of fruit and vegetables that were at one time or another grown in England, Scotland and Wales.  Some still are, but most are largely forgotten. Sadly there is little or no coverage of Irish varieties, north or south. The book is well written, illustrations are not particularly good but the sources of reference materials are. You can read more about recommended agrobiodiversity books of the last decade at the Agricultural Biodiversity Weblog.
