About Agrobiodiversit.ie
Who: Agrobiodiversit.ie is run by Danny Hunter an adjunct staff member at the National University of Ireland, Galway (NUIG) and Board of Directors of Genetic Heritage Ireland, the national NGO for the conservation and utilisation of the country’s genetic resources. He is currently the Agrobiodiversity Research Theme Leader for the Plant and Agrobiosciences Centre at NUIG. He has have over 20 years experience working in 30 countries, covering most regions of the world, dedicated to improving the livelihoods, food security and environment of those living in rural areas. Currently, he leads and coordinates the global GEF/UNEP/FAO Biodiversity for Food and Nutrition Project for Bioversity International. He is also Adjunct Associate Professort in the School of Agriculture, Charles Sturt University (CSU), Australia.
About: Agrobiodiversit.ie aims to collect and share information on agricultural biodiversity and food security, with a particular focus on issues relevant to Irish agriculture and food security, agrobiodiversity conservation and the country’s overseas development programme.
